Student Professional Development Guidelines

All Future Professionals must commit to and follow the Student Professional Development Guidelines during their enrollment at Paul Mitchell The School Rexburg. These guidelines were established to assist in creating a safe, focused, and enjoyable learning experience.

ATTENDANCE AND DOCUMENTATION OF TIME

  1. The school records attendance in clock hours and gives appropriate attendance credit for all hours attended. The school does not add or deduct attendance hours as a penalty. Attendance is calculated using a computerized timeclock.  This device may consist of an app that can be used on your phone, a biometric scanner in the school, or similar device. Other than the exception described in this paragraph, Paul Mitchell The School Rexburg does not make corrections to the students hours resulting in failure to properly use the time clock or request and complete the Lost or Missing Timecard from within the required time frame of 24 hours. Make up request form must be submitted within 24 hours per students program schedule. So that you have ample time to learn how to use the electronic time clock, Paul Mitchell The School Rexburg, at its discretion and with proper documentation, may make corrections while in CORE. To ensure proper credit for clock hours, full time students are required to clock in/out 4 times a day: when they arrive at school, when they leave for lunch, when they return from lunch, and when they leave at the end of the day. If a student fails to clock in or out for their schedule on the student time clock, the student will not receive hours.  If the student wishes to dispute any hours they feel earned, the student must provide documentation to verify attendance on the missing time form.  The documentation would include the specialty class attendance role, the guest service summary, and/or make up time request form. Disputes need to include proof that the attempt to send the lost or missing timecards was made within 24 hours. Timeclock punches cannot be altered or disputed after the month has been closed out.
  2. The school is open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM for 5 day full time students and 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM for 3 day full time students.
  3. The Future Professionals will attend CORE Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM or Wednesday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Upon completion of the CORE program students will either attend Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 PM, 7.5 hours per day,  five (5) days  for a total of 37.5 hours per week or  Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, 9.5 hours per day, three (3) days for a total of 27 hours per week. Barber students attend Monday through Wednesday, nine and a half (9.5) hours per day, 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Skin students attend either Monday through Wednesday, from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM or Wednesday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Nail students attend Wednesday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. The schedule is based on the student’s enrollment agreement.
  4. All courses require continuous attendance.
  5. The prescribed attendance schedule must be maintained each week.
  6. Future Professionals must be on time, as tardiness inhibits the learning process. Students who are late for theory, a specialty class or a guest artist class may attend the class, but must be accompanied into the classroom by a learning leader. 7. Future Professionals who are late or cannot attend school must contact the school and talk to the school service desk immediately. Future Professionals must contact the service desk by 8:00 AM for 3 day students and 8:00 AM for 5 day students.
  8. Future Professionals must let the front desk know time off from school.
  9. Future Professionals are required to be in attendance a minimum of seven and a half (7.5) hours per day, 35.5 hours per week for the full time 5 day schedule and nine and a half (9.5) hours per day, 28.5 hours per week for the full time 3 day schedule. Holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day will be set according to the calendar each year.
  10. All students will take 30 minutes for lunch between 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM, if possible, according to their booking. Future Professionals should communicate with the service desk if they have not had lunch by 1:30 PM.
